{September 2, 2007}   FTP: For the People

Well even though I already knew what FTP was before reading the article “FTP: For the People”, I found the article pretty entertaining because it explains in a kinda funny way, everything people needs to know about FTP.

I don’t understand the ASCII vs Binary part of it, I don’t even understand why I should understand it. All I know is that FTP is a efficient way to upload files into a remote server. I absolutely used FTP in Dreamweaver to upload my first website into a server, it was simple and easy. I have no complains:)

ASCII and Binary are just two different types of file formats, and uploading them happens in a particular way. Most FTP clients now adays, automatically recognizes the type of file for you. But it’s good to know a little history about how the FTP process works.
